Key Responsibilities:
  • Dispense unit doses, specialty pharmaceuticals, injectables, IV, enteral, and related supplies, adhering to state and federal regulations and company policies.
  • Compound medications using appropriate components, supplies, and sterile/ventilated environments.
  • Process, pack, and ship outgoing pharmacy orders, ensuring drug, related supplies, and patient collateral are included.
  • Perform drug/supply ordering and inventory/warehouse duties, including proper storage of drugs and supplies and appropriate refrigeration of perishable products.
  • Review medication orders and evaluate their appropriateness and completeness, considering the special needs and behaviors of the age group served.
  • Verify all prescriptions not directly received from the prescriber or physician's agent.
  • Provide oversight of the safety, appropriateness, and effectiveness of pharmaceutical care provided to patients, particularly for specialty products dispensed.
  • Assess patients at the initiation of drug therapy, develop patient care plans, and monitor patients according to the care plan throughout therapy.
  • Communicate with patients, physicians, nursing staff, other pharmacists, and healthcare team members regarding patient status, response to therapy, and clinical objectives to ensure clinical outcomes are met.
  • Compound intravenous and specialty pharmaceuticals in an aseptic fashion, adhering to established State Board of Pharmacy, Federal, USP797 sterile guidelines, and company policy.
  • Ensure compliance with all FDA, DEA, State Board of Pharmacy, OSHA, and other regulatory standards, following all department policies and procedures.
  • Provide indirect oversight of pharmacy technicians and support staff.
Requirements:
  • BS in Pharmacy or PharmD degree.
  • Current, unrestricted Pharmacist license in the state of Arizona.
  • Solid drug product and clinical pharmacy knowledge.
  • Knowledgeable in various infusion-related therapies, with the ability to work through the complexity of therapy-related orders.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office.
  • Ability to fill medication orders accurately and in a timely manner.
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule, including 8-hour shifts between 8am-6pm weekdays, with on-call rotations approximately every 4 weeks, based on business needs.
  • Permanent residence within a commutable distance to the branch.
