I. POSITION OVERVIEW
The Chief Nursing Officer is primarily responsible for ensuring the excellence of nursing care and associated patient services.

Provides both clinical and administrative leadership for patient care services, overseeing the development, execution, and assessment of these services.

Utilizes Process Excellence methodologies to foster collaboration with key customer groups.

Position Objective
The Chief Nursing Officer is accountable for the overall quality of nursing care and patient services.

Key Responsibilities
Engages with leaders across the organization, including the Board of Trustees, management, medical staff, and clinical teams, in hospital-wide decision-making processes. This includes the formulation, execution, and evaluation of the hospital's mission, strategic initiatives, budgets, resource distribution, operational plans, policies, and quality improvement activities.

Formulates, implements, and regularly reviews organizational policies and procedures that support service delivery in compliance with applicable regulations.

Maintains an up-to-date understanding of industry trends, policies, regulatory standards, and legislation, providing guidance to administration as necessary.

Designs, implements, and assesses programs aimed at enhancing the recruitment, retention, development, and continuing education of nursing and patient care personnel.

Acts as the local Nurse Executive, collaborating closely with affiliated healthcare entities.

Plans, organizes, directs, and evaluates nursing and related patient care services, establishing guidelines for care delivery, including nursing practice standards, patient care standards, nursing policies, and staffing plans.

Defines and upholds the quality standards of nursing practice and patient care across the facility.

Explores innovative nursing techniques, practices, equipment, and products through educational opportunities and professional literature.

Regularly participates in nursing affinity groups and patient care teams, supporting the sharing of best practices and system-wide initiatives.

Minimum Qualifications
Graduation from an accredited nursing program is required.
Current licensure or proof of application for licensure as a professional registered nurse in the relevant state.
Bachelor's degree in nursing is required or must be obtained within five years.
A minimum of five years of clinical nursing experience, including two years in a managerial or supervisory role in nursing administration, is essential.

Demonstrated progressive clinical and administrative experience showcasing success in nursing leadership.

Exceptional communication skills, including proficiency in public speaking and written communication.

Proven work ethic and professional integrity.

Advanced competencies in clinical nursing practice and nursing administration.
