Job Title: Medical Receptionist

We are seeking a highly skilled and organized Medical Receptionist to join our team at Obstetrics & Gynecology Associates of Hampton. As a Medical Receptionist, you will be responsible for providing exceptional patient care and administrative support to our healthcare team.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Answer multi-line phone system in a professional and courteous manner.
  • Verify and update demographic information for patients.
  • Schedule appointments for all providers and create scheduled encounters associated with each patient appointment.
  • Ensure proper payment for services is obtained through identification of insurance plan information.
  • Take and relay messages in an accurate and timely manner.
  • React to emergency and urgent calls from patients in a timely manner.
  • Manage the workflow of the department/location assigned.
  • Act as liaison between physician's office/patient/insurance company.
  • Prepare and process all referral paperwork.
  • Complete referrals by gathering pertinent information from physicians, nurse practitioners, and nursing staff.
  • Maintain referral records and files documentation.
  • Respond to patient inquiries regarding referrals.
  • Process incoming and outgoing medical records requests while operating within HIPAA regulations.
  • Check patients out and schedule follow-up appointments.
  • Perform clerical duties as assigned to maintain workflow in the department.
  • Scan necessary documents into EMR.
  • Follow all office protocols.
  • Assist trainers in training new hires.
  • Keep the front desk and surrounding areas well-organized and clean.
  • Ensure patient flow is maintained and immediately inform the supervisor of any department and patient issues.
