POSITION OVERVIEW:

Deliver comprehensive patient care at MAHEC Family Health Center facilities. Assess, diagnose, and manage acute, episodic, or mental health issues autonomously or collaboratively within a healthcare team. This role comprises 80% direct patient interaction and 20% clinical administrative responsibilities.

PRIMARY DUTIES:
  • Deliver patient care at MAHEC Family Health Center sites as necessary.
  • Request and interpret diagnostic examinations such as CBCs, EKGs, and x-rays.
  • Evaluate patient history and diagnostic results to formulate precise diagnoses.
  • Create treatment strategies adhering to professional standards.
  • Identify and manage acute health conditions.
  • Prescribe medications while considering effectiveness, safety, and affordability.
  • Advise patients on medication regimens and possible side effects.
  • Suggest interventions to mitigate health risks.
  • Recognize and address adverse drug reactions.
  • Instruct patients on self-management techniques for their conditions.
ESSENTIAL SKILLS:
  • Communication Proficiency: Effectively convey information to colleagues, patients, and families to ensure clarity.
  • Decision-Making Abilities: Make informed decisions and prioritize tasks effectively.

TECHNICAL PROFICIENCIES:

  • LANGUAGE SKILLS: Preference for candidates with Spanish language proficiency.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
  • Engage in light to moderate physical activity.
EDUCATIONAL BACKGROUND AND EXPERIENCE:
  • MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS: A minimum of two years of Nurse Practitioner experience in family medicine.
  • PREFERRED EXPERIENCE: Background in urgent care or acute care environments.
LICENSES AND CERTIFICATIONS:
  • Possession of a current NC RN license, NCBME approval, DEA Certification, and a valid NC driver’s license is mandatory.
WORK SCHEDULE:

This is a full-time role with potential weekend, holiday, or evening coverage as required. Flexible hours may be necessary to accommodate special projects or activities.
