The salary for this position is estimated to be between $60,000 - $80,000 per year, depending on experience.

Job Description

We are seeking a detail-oriented and technically skilled Dry Kiln Operations Specialist to oversee the daily operations of our dry kilns. The successful candidate will have a strong background in woodworking and drying processes, as well as excellent communication and problem-solving skills.

Responsibilities:

  • ">
  • Operate and maintain dry kilns to ensure optimal drying conditions for lumber products">
  • Monitor and control temperature, humidity, and air flow within the kilns">
  • Conduct regular quality control checks to ensure that lumber products meet company standards">
  • Loading sawdust into the boiler">
  • Planning kiln loads, establishing proper kiln loading procedure, culture">
  • Reading, understanding, executing KLC's Dry Kiln Manual ">
  • Developing Standard operating procedures (SOP's) as needed">
  • Operating forklifts to load and unload kilns">
  • Verifying Vents">
  • Verification of air flow, exiting air speed (L,M,R)">
  • Developing and sustaining a Preventative Maintenance plan surrounding the Boiler and Dry kilns">
  • Annual Boiler Inspection">
  • General Boiler Maintenance
    1. ">
    2. Sprocket">
    3. Pulleys">
    4. Basic Mechanical Components">
    5. Schedule Outside Vendors for additional Maintenance Items">
    ">
  • Strategically placing samples and documenting to monitor variances
    1. ">
    2. Air flow">
    3. Checking- Visually inspect samples, mark, date, re inspect">
    4. Stain">
    5. Mold">
    6. Color Variation- Investigation process">
    7. Water Stains">
    ">
  • Develop a Team of 2-3 individuals to rotate on call schedule for Non Production and Weekend hours">
  • All other tasks as assigned">

To be considered for this position, you must have:

  • A minimum of 2 years of experience in a related field, such as woodworking or drying processes">
  • A degree in a relevant field, such as forestry or engineering">
  • Excellent communication and problem-solving skills">
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team">
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and stand for long periods of time">
  • Physical stamina to perform manual labor">
  • Knowledge of OSHA regulations and safety protocols">
