Lumber Production Specialist

Job Summary
We are seeking a highly skilled Lumber Production Specialist to join our team at Kennebec Lumber Co. The successful candidate will be responsible for operating designated machines, overseeing lumber handling systems, and maintaining a clean professional environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Operate designated machines in accordance with SOP guidelines.
- Optimize machine efficiency by positioning lumber and operating lug loaders.
- Oversee machine operation and flow of various lumber handling systems.
- Strap packs/bundles of lumber using a strapping device.
- Maintain facility cleanliness and organization.
- Develop and maintain good working relationships with coworkers and management.
- Promote and implement on-site safety practices and culture.
- Perform other duties as assigned by management.
Safety Requirements
- Wear steel-toe footwear in all areas.
- Use gloves in designated areas based on specific tasks.
- Wear hearing protection in all areas except when inside the cab of outside machine forklifts.
- Wear eye protection in all areas.
- Report near misses and unsafe acts to immediate supervisors.
- Exercise pedestrian awareness at all times.
- Wear fluorescent vests and hard hats for outside activities (except when walking between buildings).
- Avoid walking through overhead doors controlled remotely; use access doors instead.
- Familiarize yourself with work areas, conveyor belts, emergency stop buttons, and pinch points.
Physical Demands
- Bend, stretch, and twist multiple times daily.
- Perform moderate to heavy wrist/hand repetitions.
- Stand for extended periods.
- Demonstrate ability to work swiftly and accurately.
- Lift up to 50 lbs.
- Pull and push up to 25 lbs.
- Climb stairs frequently.
- No allergies to sawdust or airborne particles.
- Work in varying weather conditions (-0°F to 90°F).
Compensation and Benefits
The estimated salary for this position is $55,000 - $65,000 per year, depending on experience. Additional benefits include opportunities for career growth, comprehensive health insurance, retirement plan matching, paid time off, and more.
