About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Certified Pharmacy Technician to join our team at Bon Secours Mercy Health. As a Certified Pharmacy Technician, you will play a vital role in supporting our pharmacists in processing medication orders, preparing medications for patients, and maintaining a clean and safe work environment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist pharmacists in preparing medications for patients, including selecting, assembling, and preparing medications for inpatient and outpatient services.
  • Enter information into and retrieve information from electronic health records and prescription processing computer systems.
  • Prepare and affix labels, stock prescription drugs, and retrieve those drugs from inventory locations.
  • Count and pour drugs into containers prior to dispensing by a pharmacist, perform non-sterile drug compounding, and stock automated drug dispensing cabinets.
  • Transport medications by vehicle to off-site locations and operate technology used for drug dispensing (robotics).
  • Assist in the education and precepting of new pharmacy technicians, pharmacy students, and participate in performance improvement activities.
  • Perform diagnostic laboratory testing as defined in state laws/guidelines and assist in maintaining a clean and safe work environment.
Requirements
  • ExCPT Certification provided by the National Health Career Association or Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (PTCB) certification and registration with State Board of Pharmacy (required).
  • High School Diploma or GED (required).
  • Completion of ASHP/ACPE tech training program - or - pharmacy technician training via Armed Forces/Veterans Affairs - or respective state department approved career tech high school program (preferred).
  • Previous experience working in Retail, Ambulatory, Outpatient, Hospital, Acute Care, or Home Infusion pharmacy (preferred).
