Position Overview:
The Practical Nurse will support physicians and registered nurses in delivering quality patient care.
Key Responsibilities:
Administer non-chemotherapeutic medications to patients as prescribed by physicians, under the direct oversight of a registered nurse, while adhering to established standards and protocols.
Ensure the safe disposal of biohazardous materials in compliance with OSHA and HRS regulations. Assist in the collection of laboratory samples.May perform technical laboratory tasks efficiently and accurately, in accordance with the standards set by regulatory agencies. Follow established procedures for specimen handling and processing.
Coordinate with external laboratories as required by patient insurance plans. May assist in maintaining logs for test reports, quality control, and equipment records as per regulatory requirements. Responsible for executing Port Access procedures correctly. Administer vaccinations to patients after thorough symptom evaluation. Conduct patient assessments.Documentation:
Maintain comprehensive and precise records in OncoEMR regarding treatments provided to patients. Prepare superbills accurately to charge patients for services rendered. Ensure all charges are captured in line with guidelines for medication administration. Adhere to the AON I.D. policy and procedure for every patient interaction.
Patient Education:
When applicable, provide education to patients and their families regarding medications, potential side effects, and the planned treatment course. Engage with patients and families in a compassionate and professional manner.
Telephone Management:
Prioritize and respond to incoming calls and messages from patients, family members, healthcare facilities, pharmacies, and physician offices, categorizing them from urgent to non-urgent.
Respond promptly and appropriately. Assist with inventory management and restocking of medical supplies as needed. Recommend new supplies for purchase when necessary. Organize stock in storage areas efficiently. Possess knowledge of medication dispensing through Nucleus. Conduct regular Nucleus counts. Restock medications within designated timeframes. Accurately enter patient charges into Nucleus.Meetings and Training:
Participate in annual Safety / OSHA training sessions. Attend all required staff meetings. Uphold the confidentiality of patient and employee information at all times. Assist in training new staff members in relevant job functions. Be prepared to work at various locations to support organizational needs.
Comply with all federal and state regulations regarding patient privacy, rights, personnel law, safety, and employment law.
Follow AON and departmental policies and procedures, including IT and Disaster Recovery protocols.Qualifications:
Must possess a valid state license as a Practical Nurse with preferred experience in IV therapy within a clinical or hospital setting.
Completion of an approved 30-hour IV certification course is mandatory if required by state regulations, or successful completion within 90 days of employment.
Current CPR and BLS certifications are required. Proficiency in English with excellent verbal and written communication skills is essential. A valid driver's license is necessary for travel to clinics. #AONN
