Job Summary

Felsburg Holt & Ullevig is seeking a highly skilled Traffic Operations Engineer to join our team. As a key member of our transportation operations group, you will be responsible for leading and managing a diverse range of projects, from small to large-scale traffic engineering initiatives.

Key Responsibilities
  • Project Management: Lead and/or manage projects, including traffic engineering tasks, and larger multi-disciplinary projects, from inception to completion.
  • Data Analysis: Oversee data collection, conduct technical analyses, and produce comprehensive written documentation.
  • Communication: Participate in and deliver project findings through written reports and presentations at client meetings, technical forums, and public hearings.
  • Technical Expertise: Utilize microsimulation and/or capacity analysis modeling software and equipment to develop engineering and planning documents.
  • Quality Assurance: Ensure adherence to job-specific quality system tasks outlined in the FHU quality manual.
  • Team Leadership: Supervise and direct the analytical work of other engineers and planners.
  • Business Development: Contribute to the planning, estimation, and preparation of project proposals, including client interviews and other competitive project pursuit activities.
  • Marketing: Engage in marketing initiatives for mid-to-large-sized projects across various engineering and planning disciplines.
  • Client Relationships: Cultivate and sustain client relationships.
Desired Areas of Expertise
  • Microscopic Simulation Modeling: Proficiency in microscopic simulation modeling tools.
  • Traffic Analysis: Familiarity with a range of traffic analysis tools for assessing operational issues and exploring alternatives.
  • Transportation Safety: Capability to conduct multimodal transportation safety projects, such as road safety audits, vision zero planning efforts, and crash frequency and pattern analyses.
  • Site Development Transportation Impact Analysis: Experience in conducting site development transportation impact analyses.
  • Real-Time Urban Traffic Signal Control: Knowledge of real-time urban traffic signal control techniques and tools, including corridor optimization and adaptive signal control systems.
  • Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS): Involvement in ITS planning, analysis, and/or design.
  • Transportation Systems Management and Operations (TSM&O): Experience in TSM&O projects.
Requirements
  • Education: Bachelor's degree in civil/transportation engineering from an accredited four-year college or university is required. A Master's Degree with a concentration in Transportation Engineering is desirable.
  • Experience: Four or more years of experience in transportation operations and safety roles, with specific expertise in preparing traffic impact analyses, regional transportation plans, and major feasibility studies.
Certifications and Licenses
  • Professional Engineer Certificate: Professional Engineer Certificate or active pursuit of Professional Engineer Certificate in Colorado. Professional Transportation Operations Engineer (PTOE) Certification is a plus.
