We're seeking a Traffic Design Engineer to join our team at WSB, a leading design and consulting firm specializing in engineering, community planning, environmental, and construction services.

About the Role:

As a Traffic Design Engineer, you'll lead traffic design initiatives, including traffic signal design, intersection design, ADA ramps, signing and pavement marking, and pedestrian and bicycle facilities.

You'll utilize industry-standard traffic engineering design and analysis tools and standards to develop innovative solutions.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Developing design concepts, conducting analysis and screening, and preparing plans, specifications, and cost estimates (PS&E package)
  • Analyzing and designing construction phasing and traffic control strategies to ensure safe and efficient project execution
  • Collaborating effectively with multidisciplinary teams to deliver high-quality solutions that meet client needs
  • Engaging in client outreach and participating in preparing proposals to support business growth
  • Contributing to report writing and documentation processes to communicate project findings and recommendations effectively

What We're Looking For:

We're seeking a candidate with a bachelor's or higher degree in civil engineering, transportation engineering, or a related field from an accredited university.

A Colorado PE license and a minimum of 5 years of relevant experience in traffic engineering are required.

Candidates with a PE license from another state must be able to attain a Colorado PE license within 6 months of hire.

Evidence of experience on multimodal transportation and/or sustainable/complete street projects is a plus.

A commitment to obtaining a PTOE certification (Professional Traffic Operations Engineer) or possession of one is also desirable.

Established networks of local traffic engineers and clients are a plus.

Experience and passion for multimodal transportation planning and design are essential.

Knowledge and experience with alternative/innovative intersection and interchange design concepts are also required.

Proficiency in traffic signal design and timing, as well as the development and analysis of alternative design concepts and lane configurations, is necessary.

Experience in preparing plans, specifications, and cost estimates, as well as designing work zone traffic control and construction phasing, is also required.
