Job Title: Licensed Practical Nurse

We are seeking a skilled and compassionate Licensed Practical Nurse to join our team at the Department of Mental Health, Waccamaw Center for Mental Health. As a LPN, you will play a vital role in providing high-quality patient care and contributing to the overall success of our healthcare team.

Job Summary:

The Licensed Practical Nurse will be responsible for providing direct nursing care to patients with chronic and persistent mental illnesses, as well as children and adolescents with severe emotional disturbances. This includes making observations, administering medications, providing counseling and education to patients and families, and utilizing other appropriate resources as needed.

Responsibilities:
  • Provides psychiatric nursing services to patients with chronic and persistent mental illnesses, and children and adolescents with severe emotional disturbances.
  • Makes observations, administers medications, and provides counseling and education to patients and families.
  • Utilizes other appropriate resources as needed to provide comprehensive patient care.
  • Works directly with staff psychiatrists/physicians to coordinate medication needs and address medication concerns.
  • Participates in treatment team meetings to gain assistance in the formulation and implementation of treatment plans.
  • Promotes and helps maintain the health of individuals and families through teaching, counseling, and rehabilitative measures.
  • Coordinates needed community supports and works closely with Community Support Staff members.
Requirements:
  • A bachelor's degree in nursing and 2 years of work experience OR a 3-year diploma and 2 years of work experience.
  • Must have current South Carolina State License from SC Board of Nursing.
  • Must have graduated from an accredited school of practical nursing and related experience.
  • Must be able to meet DMH credentialing requirements.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Bilingual abilities in English and Spanish (or another language) are a plus.
