About the Role

Coffman Engineers is seeking a highly motivated Fire Protection Engineer to join our team of professionals in our Houston office. As a Fire Protection Engineer, you will support our Fire Protection Department in providing our clients with a range of services, including automatic suppression system design, fire detection, alarm and mass notification system design, code analysis, egress analysis, fire resistant construction analysis, smoke control analysis, and general fire protection and life safety concepts and research.

Key Responsibilities
  • Design and develop fire protection systems, including suppression systems, fire detection, fire alarm and mass notification systems
  • Analyze existing fire protection systems and design new systems to meet client needs
  • Perform research and documentation for internal and external distribution
  • Manage day-to-day contacts with internal and external clients while utilizing experience and technology to meet expectations
  • Utilize FDS, Pyrosim, CONTAM programs to execute performance-based design efforts
  • Project management skills for managing internal projects as well as external client needs
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree (B.S.) in engineering from an accredited college or university
  • Fire Protection specific degree required
  • Registered as an Engineer-in-Training (EIT) (preferred)
  • One to three years of working experience
  • Experience with the current version of AutoCAD and Revit (preferred)
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills
