Job Summary

We are seeking a highly qualified Advanced Practice Provider to join our team at North Carolina Eye, Ear, Nose & Throat, a Duke Health Practice. As a key member of our multidisciplinary team, you will work in collaboration with attending physicians to provide high-quality patient care services.

Responsibilities
  • Provide timely patient access for new and established patient visits, including pre-scheduled appointments, urgent and non-urgent add-ons, and appointments made at the request of another provider to provide continuity of care.
  • Take patient histories, conduct physical examinations, record the data in the patient's record and write thorough progress notes.
  • Perform diagnostic and therapeutic procedures, including nasal endoscopy, nasopharyngoscopy, laryngoscopy, epistaxis control, biopsies, microscopic ear examination and debridement, suture removal and wound management.
  • Order laboratory studies and diagnostic imaging, interpret diagnostic test results, and prescribe necessary treatment.
  • Make appropriate medical referrals when indicated and utilize our electronic medical record system to review charts, document clinic notes, perform video visits, communicate with patients, provide test results, renew prescriptions, communicate with staff, and work with insurers for prior authorization.
  • Coordinate patient care by communicating with medical providers from both within and outside our institution.
  • Maintain all documentation and certification required by law to practice medicine as a Physician Assistant or Nurse Practitioner in the state of North Carolina.
  • Participate in clinic meetings, huddles, safety protocols and drills.
Requirements
  • Nurse Practitioners: Work requires completion of an accredited Nurse Practitioner program, with a Master's degree in Nursing.
  • Physician Assistants: Completion of an accredited Physician Assistant program. A Bachelor's degree required; Master's degree strongly preferred.
  • Certification: BLS required. National certification as a NP required prior to or within 6 months of employment.
  • License: Must have current or compact RN licensure in the state of North Carolina. BLS required. National certification as a PA required prior to or within 6 months of employment.
  • Experience: 1+ years of APP experience required.
