Job SummaryWe are seeking a seasoned attorney with a strong background in corporate law to lead our Legal team in Holland, MI. The successful candidate will have a proven track record of managing complex legal matters, developing and implementing effective compliance strategies, and providing expert guidance to internal stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities- Develop and implement comprehensive compliance programs to ensure regulatory compliance and mitigate risk.
- Provide strategic guidance on corporate governance, product liability, antitrust, employment, contract, and litigation laws.
- Manage and mentor a team of Corporate Counsel to ensure well-organized processes and efficient service delivery.
- Collaborate with internal stakeholders to develop and implement effective risk management strategies.
- Review, negotiate, and advise on contracts and agreements to support commercial activities.
- Ensure compliance with antitrust and consumer laws in territories of application.
- Develop and maintain policies and procedures to guide internal stakeholders on legal and business issues.
- Oversee management of outside counsel to ensure efficient and cost-effective utilization.
- Assist with establishing, disseminating, and training compliance and policy changes to all levels of the organization.
- Perform other tasks as necessary to support the legal and compliance functions.
Education
- Juris Doctorate from an accredited law school.
- Licensed and in good standing to practice law within the United States.
Work Experience
- Ten years of related attorney experience, including in-depth corporate law experience.
- Seven years of related supervisory experience required.
- Admission to practice law in the state of Michigan is strongly preferred.
- Ten years of related experience working in-house.
- Fifteen years of related attorney experience, including in-depth corporate law experience preferred.
- Deep experience and knowledge in areas of Corporate Governance, Product Liability, Antitrust, Employment, Contract, and Litigation laws.
- Prior experience helping to build legal team strategies and legal teams.
- Strong leadership capability.
- Ability to manage multiple assignments and cases.
- Ability to identify risk and resolve issues quickly.
- Professional demeanor with a high degree of confidentiality.
- Exceptional communication and writing skills.
- Superior negotiation and influencing skills.
- Ability to work independently and as a member of teams.
- Ability to travel as and when required by the company, including internationally, up to 35 percent of time.
- PC and keyboard/mouse skills.
