Forensic Scientist

We are seeking a highly skilled Forensic Scientist to join our team at the City of Albuquerque, NM. As a Forensic Scientist, you will be responsible for identifying, examining, analyzing, evaluating, and interpreting evidence in the investigation of crimes. You will use forensic science to analyze evidence related to firearm and toolmark examinations and effectively communicate results and findings to appropriate parties.

• Conduct forensic examinations of evidence related to firearm and toolmark cases
• Analyze and interpret evidence to reach scientific conclusions
• Communicate results and findings to law enforcement agencies and other stakeholders
• Collaborate with other forensic scientists and experts to ensure accurate and reliable results
• Stay up-to-date with the latest techniques and technologies in forensic science

To be successful in this role, you will need:

• A bachelor's degree in physical science, forensic science, chemistry, biology, or a related field
• One to three years of experience in forensic science or a related field
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and meet deadlines

We prefer candidates with:

• A master's degree in forensic science or a related field
• Three to five years of experience in forensic science or a related field
• Experience with forensic instruments and equipment
• Knowledge of forensic science principles and practices
