Job Title: Forensic Scientist-Biology/DNA Series SCT

We are seeking a highly skilled Forensic Scientist-Biology/DNA Series SCT to join our team at the City of Albuquerque, NM. As a Forensic Scientist-Biology/DNA Series SCT, you will play a critical role in the investigation of crimes by identifying, examining, analyzing, evaluating, and interpreting evidence in the area of Biology/DNA.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Identify and examine evidence in the investigation of crimes
  • Analyze and evaluate evidence to reach scientific conclusions
  • Communicate results and findings to appropriate parties
  • Use forensic science in the analysis of evidence in the area of Biology/DNA
Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in physical science, forensic science, chemistry, biology, or related field
  • Additional academic courses required as specified in the FBI QAS CODIS requirements
  • One (1) year of examination training and/or casework for Forensic Scientist Biology/DNA I SCI - Entry Level
  • Three (3) years of examination training and/or casework for Forensic Scientist Biology/DNA II SC2 - Journeyman Level
  • Eight (8) years of examination training and/or casework for Forensic Scientist Biology/DNA III SC3 - Advanced Level
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Master's degree from an accredited college or university in physical science, forensic science, chemistry, biology, or related field
  • Advanced molecular biology, genetics, biochemistry, and statistics principles
  • Operation of forensic instruments, equipment, and tools
  • Occupational hazards and standard safety practices
