Position Overview:

Tallgrass Energy is seeking a Head of Sequestration to lead and provide technical direction for all aspects of Carbon Capture, Utilization, and Storage (CCUS). This role will oversee the development, engineering, and operational support of Tallgrass's CCS facilities, collaborating with multi-disciplinary teams, including Development, Operations, Subsurface, and Regulatory.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Direct the project development of CCUS initiatives and support the operational phase through collaboration with the Operations team to ensure regulatory compliance.
  • Act as Tallgrass's Subject Matter Expert on Sequestration, maintaining up-to-date knowledge of relevant regulations and analyzing their potential impacts on sequestration projects.
  • Oversee application development and manage permitting obligations associated with U.S. CO2 sequestration, including coordination with third-party consultants.
  • Collaborate with Engineering during the front-end engineering design and detailed engineering processes of CCUS projects.
  • Provide technical assistance to Environmental, Regulatory, and Air permitting teams to facilitate the acquisition of environmental permits.
  • Develop and maintain CCUS project plans and procedures in accordance with regulatory and company standards.
  • Ensure compliance with permits, legislation, and company standards for CCUS projects.
  • Develop and execute testing and monitoring plans for Class VI wells, supervising the submission of reports to regulatory agencies.

Qualifications:

Applicants should possess a minimum of 15 years of relevant experience in CO2 sequestration, with a strong background in both development and operations. Candidates should demonstrate:

  • Experience leading diverse project teams.
  • Knowledge of carbon storage and sequestration opportunities across the continental U.S.
  • Familiarity with midstream functions, including engineering, construction, and risk management.
  • Expertise in CO2 transportation and storage operations, as well as the regulatory process for Class VI well permitting.
  • Strong organizational and communication skills, with the ability to effectively engage with all project stakeholders.
  • A reputation for integrity and ethics, along with a collaborative approach to working with colleagues.
