Salary Range: $80,000 - $90,000 annually

Work Location: Remote or Client Site

Role Summary:

The Lead Aviation Project Consultant plays a pivotal role in supporting project management efforts to meet client expectations. This position is responsible for overseeing project deliverables by effectively managing tasks and collaborating with team members. The consultant will coordinate project activities and supervise the contributions of Project Analysts and other support personnel as necessary.

Qualifications:

Education and Experience:

A bachelor’s degree is required, preferably in aviation management, urban planning, architecture, engineering, quantitative analysis, mathematics, computer science, graphics, computer-aided design, or public administration. A master’s degree is advantageous. A minimum of five years of relevant professional experience is essential.

Key Responsibilities:

Project Management

  • Define project scope based on client requirements, including detailed task breakdowns, estimated hours, and associated schedules/fees.
  • Adjust project scope as necessary in response to fee negotiations, ensuring client expectations are managed effectively.
  • Oversee the work of team members, which may include subconsultants and junior associates, to ensure project milestones are met.
  • Ensure projects are completed within agreed timelines and budget constraints.
  • Maintain regular communication with client contacts to provide updates on project status.
  • Develop all necessary project deliverables, including reports, plans, drawings, and presentations.
  • Review and analyze data and deliverables meticulously to ensure alignment with project requirements.
  • Proactively identify and resolve potential project issues as they arise.

Mentorship and Leadership

  • Provide training and mentorship to junior staff, focusing on both technical skills and professional development.
  • Deliver constructive feedback to junior team members to enhance their contributions to client projects.
  • Engage in the annual performance review process and provide interim feedback as needed.

Communication Skills

  • Lead meetings and presentations effectively, engaging stakeholders at all levels.
  • Ensure adherence to company style guidelines in all written materials.
  • Facilitate team discussions and strategy development sessions.
  • Delegate tasks appropriately to junior staff to maximize project efficiency and support their growth.

Business Development

  • Identify opportunities for follow-on work with existing clients and seek to expand business relationships.
  • Focus on specific service areas that align with the strategic goals of the company.
  • Receive guidance from senior staff on business development strategies.
  • Recognize and communicate potential leads for new projects to management.
  • Build and maintain a network of contacts to support future business opportunities.

Technical Proficiency

  • Utilize advanced Excel skills for data analysis, including sorting, formatting, and creating pivot tables.
  • Prepare professional PowerPoint presentations with advanced formatting and design tools.
  • Demonstrate knowledge of the airport environment through relevant experience.
  • Employ critical thinking to deconstruct problems and identify solutions.
  • Familiarity with AutoCAD for basic file manipulation and drawing is preferred.
  • Show a commitment to learning and applying new technical skills.
Physical and Mental Demands:

This role requires the ability to perform various physical tasks, including prolonged sitting, standing, and lifting light objects. Mentally, the consultant must engage in effective communication, problem-solving, and time management while meeting project deadlines.

Working Conditions:

This is a full-time position with an expectation of 40 hours per week, with occasional requirements for evening or weekend work. Travel to client sites may be necessary.
