Position Overview

This position is for a Training Specialist within the Army National Guard Units, focusing on the development and execution of training programs.


Appointment Details:
This is an Indefinite Excepted Service role, which is a bargaining position. Key Responsibilities:

The Training Specialist will provide expert guidance and support to various teams in planning, organizing, and documenting both individual and collective training activities.

Responsibilities include:

  • Assisting in the creation of training directives and operational plans.
  • Preparing training schedules and annual training plans.
  • Conducting research to update the unit's mission essential task lists (METL) based on operational needs.
  • Forecasting training requirements and coordinating with higher authorities for training quotas.
  • Monitoring training execution and suggesting reallocations as necessary.
  • Supporting training personnel in scheduling training venues and procuring necessary materials.
  • Designing and distributing training aids and materials essential for effective training.
  • Assisting in the development of the annual training budget and managing requisitions.

Qualifications:

To qualify for this position, candidates must meet the following:

  • Compatible military grade and assignment prior to placement.
  • Must be a member of the National Guard or eligible for immediate membership.

Selected candidates will need to be in a compatible military role before starting and must achieve MOS qualification within a year of appointment.


Experience Requirements:

General experience should demonstrate the ability to follow directions and understand various instructions and procedures.

Specialized experience requirements include:

  • GS-06: 9 months of experience in developing training programs and scheduling training events.
  • GS-05: 6 months of experience in conducting training and educational programs.
  • GS-04: 3 months of experience in administrative and clerical duties related to training.

Education:

A high school diploma or equivalent is mandatory. An undergraduate degree with relevant coursework in education or social sciences is preferred.


Additional Information:

Male applicants born after December 31, 1959, must be registered under the Military Selective Service Act to be eligible for this position.
