Job Summary

This role is designed for a motivated and detail-oriented professional seeking a challenging position within the health care industry. As a Medical Support Professional, you will play a vital part in the operation of the Labor and Delivery unit at Denver Health.

Responsibilities:

  • Monitors incoming computerized orders, transcribing them accurately and notifying RN of STAT orders. Clarifies difficult-to-read orders to ensure accuracy. (20%)
  • Acts as a greeter to the unit, maintaining patient confidentiality and performing all duties with customer satisfaction as a goal. Answers phones and call lights in a timely manner, taking accurate messages and relaying patient information to Nursing. (20%)
  • Activates patients in appropriate systems, obtaining medical record numbers and patient stickers. Prepares chart, patient bands, and necessary paperwork, ensuring records are submitted and exchanged. (20%)
  • Prepares discharge, transfer, or demise records, completing paperwork and ensuring records are ready to send to Medical Records. Prepares and distributes Flow Sheets for required units each day, filing face sheets, lab slips, and appointments in each patient chart. (20%)
  • Organizes charts, prepares laboratory slips, enters orders in the computer, and calls/schedules appointments according to written or verbal orders. Interacts professionally with colleagues and the public, consistent with the Denver Dozen and the mission of Denver Health. Participates in peer review processes. (10%)

Education and Experience Requirements:

To be successful in this role, applicants should have no less than 1-3 years of clerical or customer service experience, preferably in the health care industry. A high school diploma or equivalent is also required. Familiarity with Microsoft Office Suite is essential.

Salary and Benefits

The salary range for this role is between $20.00 and $27.00 per hour, based on location and experience. The company offers outstanding benefits, including up to 27 paid days off per year, immediate retirement plan employer contribution, and generous medical plans.
