Position Overview

Randstad Digital is seeking a skilled Electrical Engineer to become a vital part of the Vehicle Electrification Team, focusing on Energy Storage Systems and Integration Design. In this role, you will be responsible for integrating battery systems into top-tier products within the Agricultural and Construction sectors. Collaboration with a diverse team of engineers will be essential, covering the fundamental aspects of electrical system architecture and the necessary interfaces for comprehensive integration with vehicle systems.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop comprehensive system specifications, schematics, and component requirements.
  • Select battery pack and disconnect unit subcomponents in alignment with system-level specifications and performance criteria.
  • Define and create high voltage/low voltage interconnects, control mechanisms, and wiring strategies for optimal battery functionality.
  • Design battery component CAD models during the initial phases of product development.
  • Collaborate with vehicle teams, suppliers, functional safety experts, software developers, diagnostics teams, and prototype builders.
  • Support the service and troubleshooting of field battery packs using existing schematics and processes.
  • Engage with suppliers to direct and collaborate on design strategies and solutions throughout the battery pack development lifecycle.
  • Assist in the development and application of modeling strategies and analytical tools.
  • Work closely with the pack design manager and propulsion system team to provide performance insights for trade studies.
  • Lead the formulation of high voltage safety concepts for components and wiring.
  • Contribute to the development of electrical system DFMEA for both internal and supplier designs.
  • Interface with purchasing and suppliers during the sourcing and development phases.
  • Collaborate with lead engineers, cross-functional team members, and engineering service teams (including vehicle, modeling and simulation, software, and functional safety).
  • Communicate development progress to leadership, identify project risks, and propose mitigation strategies.
  • Prepare for and participate in both formal and informal design/peer review sessions.
  • Act as a key member of the Product Development Team (PDT) and liaise with teams across various global locations.
  • Stay updated on the latest technologies related to energy storage requirements, components, and strategies, driving the creation of innovative solutions.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical or Mechatronics Engineering or a related discipline.
  • A minimum of 2 years of experience in developing electrical system architectures for high voltage systems.
  • Proven experience in designing and developing battery pack components, including busbars, fuses, wiring, connectors, contactors, and control modules.

Preferred Skills

  • Experience with CAD and PLM software, particularly CREO Parametric and Teamcenter.
  • Familiarity with vehicle electrical harness assembly.
  • Knowledge of the Agriculture and Construction industries.
