Role Purpose:

Delivery drivers for food and food service play an essential part in maintaining the nation's food supply chain. Our drivers ensure timely and safe delivery of products, representing our company and building strong relationships with clients.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Engage professionally with customers, vendors, and colleagues, ensuring accurate and timely responses to inquiries.
  • Collaborate effectively as a team member within the organization, performing various duties as needed to support company objectives.
  • Conduct all necessary safety inspections (pre/post trip) of vehicles in compliance with Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations, ensuring adherence to company safety standards.
  • Report any safety concerns or required repairs promptly.
  • Adhere to all DOT regulations and company driving policies.
  • Immediately address any safety hazards and ensure proper loading and securing of freight.
  • Perform inventory checks and verify customer invoices for loaded products.
  • Accurately complete all required documentation related to freight.
  • Position the vehicle at loading docks and attach preloaded trailers as necessary.
  • Follow predetermined delivery routes to transport customer orders.
  • Unload products at customer locations and transport items to designated storage areas.
  • Conduct damage assessments on items and communicate with supervisors regarding order removals as per company policy.
  • Confirm delivery with customers and obtain necessary signatures.
  • Collect payments (cash or checks) when required and secure trailer doors.
  • Ensure that all vehicles and freight are secured at all times.
  • Handle damaged goods and customer returns, completing required paperwork.
  • Maintain daily logs of service hours in compliance with Federal DOT, state, and company regulations.
  • Perform general housekeeping duties in the vehicle and loading areas, ensuring cleanliness and organization.
  • At the end of each shift, secure all equipment and finalize necessary documentation.
  • Carry out other related tasks as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 12 months of commercial driving experience.
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Valid CDL A license.
  • Compliance with all state licensing and certification requirements.
  • Must be at least 21 years old.
  • Clean driving record for the past three years.
  • Successful completion of post-offer drug screening and background checks.
  • Pass a road test.
  • Possess a valid DOT Health Card or be able to obtain one.
  • Ability to lift and move product cases weighing between 10-90 pounds using appropriate equipment.
