Role Purpose:

As a delivery driver in the food service sector, you play an essential role in maintaining the integrity of the food supply chain. Your responsibilities include ensuring timely and safe delivery of products to customers, representing our company positively, and fostering strong customer relationships.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Engage professionally with customers, vendors, and colleagues, ensuring prompt and accurate responses to inquiries.
  • Collaborate effectively within the team and fulfill any assigned duties to support the organization.
  • Conduct all necessary safety inspections (pre/post trip) of the vehicle and trailer in compliance with Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations, ensuring they meet company safety standards.
  • Report any safety concerns or required repairs immediately.
  • Adhere to all DOT regulations and company driving policies.
  • Inspect trailer loads for secure and proper freight handling.
  • Perform item counts and verify customer invoices for loaded products.
  • Accurately complete all required documentation related to freight.
  • Transport the tractor to the loading dock and connect to preloaded trailers as necessary.
  • Follow predetermined delivery routes to ensure timely customer order fulfillment.
  • Unload products at customer locations and transport them to designated storage areas.
  • Conduct damage assessments on items and communicate with supervisors regarding any issues per company policy.
  • Confirm delivery with customers and obtain necessary signatures.
  • Collect payments where applicable and secure customer returns on the trailer.
  • Ensure all vehicles and freight are secured appropriately.
  • Handle damaged goods and customer returns, completing required paperwork.
  • Maintain accurate daily logs of service hours in accordance with federal, state, and company regulations.
  • Perform general housekeeping duties in the vehicle and loading areas.
  • At the end of the shift, secure all equipment and finalize necessary documentation.
  • Carry out additional related tasks as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 12 months of commercial driving experience.
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Valid CDL A license.
  • Compliance with all state licensing and certification requirements.
  • Must be at least 21 years old.
  • Clean driving record for the past three years.
  • Successful completion of post-offer drug screening and background checks.
  • Pass a road test.
  • Current DOT Health Card or ability to obtain one.
  • Ability to lift and move product cases weighing between 10-90 pounds using appropriate equipment.
