Position Overview

We are seeking a creative and engaging Early Childhood Educator to deliver educational guidance and foster a secure and supportive atmosphere that enables children to build self-esteem and learn through play.

Essential Qualifications:

  • Must be at least 18 years old
  • High School Diploma or equivalent required
  • Previous experience with children is advantageous
  • Certification in Infant and Child CPR/First Aid
  • Food Handlers Card
  • Recent negative TB test
  • Training in Bloodborne Pathogens
  • HIV/AIDS awareness training
  • MMR vaccination
  • Completion of 30 hours of STARS training, with an additional 10 hours annually
  • Successful completion of a Criminal History Check/Fingerprint

This role involves physical activities such as walking or running swiftly, kneeling or sitting on the floor, lifting up to 50 pounds, and adapting to various positions and levels. The educator will also work outdoors in different weather conditions.

Key Competencies:

  • Ability to maintain professional and cordial communication with colleagues, children, and families
  • Skill in relating to families from diverse backgrounds
  • Capability to perform necessary program activities

Core Responsibilities:

  • Adhere to all minimum licensing standards, including DEL and Early Achievers
  • Ensure confidentiality for all families associated with the center
  • Promote safety within the classroom and outdoor settings by following established rules and routines
  • Engage with children individually or in small groups to stimulate their intellectual, physical, and social development
  • Encourage independence and language growth, guiding children to "do for themselves"
  • Model appropriate interactions and apply age-appropriate guidance strategies
  • Create and sustain a child-safe environment
  • Implement emergency protocols, provide first aid when necessary, and attend to sick children
  • Follow the curriculum plans set forth by the classroom
  • Conduct regular cleaning and sanitation of the classroom, utilizing necessary cleaning tools and products
