Job Overview

Housing Hope is seeking a dedicated and compassionate Early Childhood Educator to join our team as an Assistant Teacher. In this role, you will work closely with children in the classroom, building trusting relationships and implementing individualized learning strategies under the guidance of the Lead Teacher.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Ensure the health and safety of our children, promoting a nurturing environment that fosters growth and development.
  • Assist children in developing essential skills, including toileting, language, self-help, self-control, and social skills, while implementing routines and activities tailored to their age group.
  • Contribute to establishing and maintaining a safe and healthy classroom environment, planning and implementing a developmentally appropriate curriculum that meets children's diverse needs.
  • Provide feedback on classroom functioning and success of planned activities, offering input into curriculum planning, classroom setup, and management.
  • Prepare curriculum materials, set up and clean the classroom, and work with children in small and large groups.
  • Uphold Housing Hope's policies, protocols, and procedures, maintaining confidentiality of children's and families' information.
  • In the Lead Teacher's absence, assume classroom leadership and management responsibilities, executing the planned curriculum and supervising children.
  • Collaborate with colleagues to build productive relationships and achieve program goals, continuing to increase professional knowledge and skills in job-related areas.

Requirements:

  • AA degree or higher in Early Childhood Education or a related field.
  • Current knowledge of Washington State Licensed Childcare Regulations.
  • Negative TB test, full COVID-19 vaccination, HIV/AIDS certificate of training, CPR and First Aid certification, Food Handler Card, and a valid Washington State Driver's License.
  • Ability to work well in a team setting, maintain a current knowledge of quality childcare and early learning practices, and exhibit strong organizational, time management, record-keeping, and documentation skills.
