Job Summary

The Grants and Communications Specialist is a key member of the Advancement team at Spurwink, responsible for securing grant funding and developing effective communications strategies to drive agency growth and program enhancement.

Key Responsibilities
  • Prepare and submit grant proposals to private foundations, corporate foundations, and government sources to support agency growth efforts and programs.
  • Develop solicitations and proposals for programs, general operating needs, and growth opportunities.
  • Prepare progress and final reports to donors and maintain grants files and associated records.
  • Collaborate with the Manager of Communications and the Advancement team to produce print and digital collateral for internal and external communications channels.
  • Participate in grant/contract group meetings to monitor grant progress and communicate with funders about grant progress and deliverables.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree required with a minimum of two years grant writing experience and/or communications and marketing experience, preferably with a nonprofit organization.
  • Master's degree preferred. Previous experience with nonprofit fundraising and writing proposals in response to large state and federal RFPs and institutional donors.
  • Experience working in deadline-driven environments and establishing and maintaining positive working relationships with clinical and education teams, finance, CQI, and other administrative departments.
  • Able to maintain focus on multiple projects and prioritize activities to meet contract deliverables.
  • Requires above-average competency with Microsoft Office 365, including Word, Excel, Teams, and Outlook, and familiarity with donor databases.
