Cancer Care at Cone Health:

The Oncology Pharmacist Coordinator plays a pivotal role in ensuring seamless cancer care for patients. This position oversees medication approval, dispensing, and counseling, while also supervising the Oncology Pharmacy team and performing drug compounding. As a liaison between pharmacy staff, technicians, and hospital staff, this individual will support the development of pharmaceutical care services.

Responsibilities:

  • Conducts rounds with healthcare teams to provide pharmaceutical care and achieve optimal therapeutic outcomes.
  • Reviews medication profiles for appropriate drug selection, dose, route, and frequency.
  • Identifies and resolves actual drug-related problems, developing plans to prevent potential issues.
  • Supervises distributive aspects of pharmaceutical care provided to patients.
  • Improves systems and processes to ensure safe, accurate, and timely provision of pharmaceutical care.
  • Guides pharmacists through educational programs to enhance knowledge of pharmacotherapy and patient monitoring.
  • Manages human resources, including hiring, scheduling, performance evaluation, and developmental opportunities.

Requirements:

  • Graduate of an accredited College of Pharmacy.
  • Advanced degree in Pharmacy or completion of a hospital pharmacy residency from a program accredited by the American Society of Health-System Pharmacists.
  • Three years of pharmacy technician work experience or relevant experience in prior authorization and copay assistance programs.
  • Board Certification in Oncology Pharmacy (BCOP) within one year of hire and a current license to practice pharmacy in North Carolina or eligibility to obtain the license within two months of hire.
