Job Summary
The City of Grand Rapids is seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Police Officer to join our team. As a Police Officer, you will be responsible for providing police services to the community, enforcing laws and ordinances, and maintaining public safety.
Key Responsibilities
- Patrol city streets to provide protection of citizens and enforce laws and ordinances.
- Interview complaints, suspects, and witnesses to criminal activity and testify in court cases as required.
- Work with citizens to address problems and improve police and community relations.
- Perform tactical operations throughout the city, including special events, foot, bike, uniformed or plainclothes, and Segway patrols.
Requirements
- Must be at least 18 years of age.
- Must have a valid driver's license and be able to obtain a Michigan Driver's license by date of hire.
- Must have a high school diploma or GED.
- US citizenship.
- Some experience in communicating with people under varying circumstances.
- Candidates must meet initial employment requirements as established by the Civil Service Board.
- Must take and receive a passing score on the Grand Rapids Civil Service Exam for Police Officers.
