Nurse Practitioner

We are seeking a highly skilled Registered Nurse to join our team at the Long Island State Veterans Home. As a Registered Nurse, you will play a critical role in providing high-quality patient care and contributing to the overall success of our healthcare team.
Key Responsibilities- Assess the daily needs of residents and assign appropriate staff to meet nursing care needs.
- Supervise and evaluate the effectiveness of nursing care provided to residents.
- Document and update nursing care plans regarding changes and needs of residents.
- Communicate effectively with residents, families, and healthcare team members.
- Initiate and participate in educational programs for residents and families.
- Collaborate with nursing supervisor and staff to ensure seamless care delivery.
- Participate in clinical in-service training and skill development.
- Work closely with nurse manager to counsel and evaluate nursing employees.
- Act as a professional role model for staff and nursing students.
- Contribute to the development and evaluation of nursing standards and quality of care.
Working conditions may involve exposure to infectious disease, blood, and other unpleasant elements. May be exposed to emergency and crisis situations. Occasional irregular hours and pressure due to multiple calls and inquiries.
Qualifications- NYS Registered Nurse License.
- Long Term Care and Healthcare experience.
- Experience using EMR.
- Clinical practice experience working with adult or aging population.
- Strong problem-solving and critical thinking skills.
- Strong communication skills.
The Long Island State Veterans Home is a tobacco-free environment. Tobacco products are strictly prohibited on our campus. This position may require wearing respiratory protection, which may prohibit facial hair. This position has been designated as essential, requiring employees to remain at work or report to work during emergencies. The LISVH is a 24/7 skilled nursing facility, and all positions are subject to changes in pass days and shifts as necessary. Vacation or Personal Leave accruals during the first 6 months of employment will not be authorized without prior approval from Human Resources.
