The University of California, Irvine is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Public Safety Supervisor to join our team. As a Public Safety Supervisor, you will play a critical role in ensuring the safety and security of our campus community, physical property, and assets.
Key Responsibilities- Supervise and direct public safety officers and public safety ambassadors to ensure the effective delivery of security services.
- Monitor and direct security operations to ensure compliance with laws, regulations, and departmental procedures.
- Provide leadership and guidance to staff to ensure they have the necessary skills and knowledge to perform their duties effectively.
- Collaborate with other departments and units to ensure a coordinated approach to safety and security.
- Develop and implement policies and procedures to ensure the effective management of security operations.
- High school diploma or equivalent certification/experience/training.
- A minimum of 3 years of experience in security services or a related field.
- Knowledge of regulations regarding hazardous materials, fire codes, building codes, and other relevant safety requirements.
- Demonstrated leadership skills in mentoring and advising employees.
- Ability to effectively manage multiple priorities and execute plans to meet deadlines.
- Organizational skills to coordinate assigned staff schedules and unit operations.
- Interpersonal skills to effectively work well with others to achieve common goals.
- Ability to apply judgment to quickly evaluate issues and identify potential solutions within defined procedures and policies.
- Interpersonal skills to handle sensitive and/or stressful situations with a multi-cultural population and escalate appropriately.
- Ability to utilize a supervision style that emphasizes teamwork, participation, partnership, communication, and team development to motivate personnel.
- Must display exceptional customer service and communication skills.
- Ability to relate well to a diverse University community.
- The ability to read, write, and speak proper English.
- Experience working in a University environment.
- Prior hospital security supervisor experience.
- Bilingual in a second language other than English.
- Experience with Taser and use of force principles.
- Associate Degree from an accredited institution.
The Public Safety Supervisor will work in a fast-paced environment and will be required to conduct sustained foot patrols and/or extended stationary post assignments. The ability to work in a variety of environments and to adapt to changing situations is essential.
