  • Job Summary: We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Public Safety Supervisor to join our team at the University of California, Irvine. As a Public Safety Supervisor, you will be responsible for providing general safety and security of the UC Irvine, Orange Health, and UC Irvine Health population, physical property, and assets as prescribed by law, regulatory compliance, departmental procedures and guidelines.
  • Key Responsibilities: • Direct supervision of public safety officers (PSO) and public safety ambassadors (PSA) • Monitor and direct security operations • Maintain accurate records and reports • Collaborate with law enforcement agencies to ensure a safe and secure environment • Respond to emergencies and incidents • Develop and implement safety and security policies and procedures • Conduct training and drills to ensure preparedness • Provide excellent customer service and communication skills • Work effectively with diverse groups and communities • Maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information • Ensure compliance with all relevant laws, regulations, and policies

Salary and Benefits

The salary range for this position is $85,000 - $110,000 per year, depending on experience and qualifications. We also offer a comprehensive benefits package, including medical insurance, sick and vacation time, retirement savings plans, and access to a number of discounts and perks.

Requirements and Qualifications

  • Education: High school diploma and/or equivalent certification/experience/training • Associate degree from an accredited institution is preferred
  • Experience: A minimum of 3 years of experience in security services or a related field • Prior experience in a university environment is preferred • Prior hospital security supervisor experience is also preferred
  • Skills and Qualifications: • Knowledge of regulations regarding hazardous materials, fire codes, building codes, and all other relevant safety requirements • Demonstrated leadership skills in mentoring and advising employees • Ability to effectively manage multiple priorities and execute plans to meet deadlines • Organizational skills to apply to coordinating assigned staff schedules and unit operations • Interpersonal skills to effectively work well with others to achieve common goals • Ability to apply judgment to quickly evaluate issues and identify potential solutions within defined procedures and policies • Interpersonal skills to handle sensitive and/or stressful situations with a multi-cultural population and escalate appropriately • Ability to relate well to a diverse University community • Ability to read, write, and speak proper English
