We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Custodian to join our team at Wake County Public Schools. As a Custodian, you will be responsible for maintaining the cleanliness and organization of our school facilities, ensuring a safe and healthy environment for our students and staff.
Key Responsibilities- Ensure the entire school facility is sanitized, cleaned, and maintained, including hard surface and carpeted floors, restrooms, waste disposal, windows, locker rooms, and grounds.
- Perform minor or routine maintenance on custodial equipment and report any repair needs, safety concerns, and school property damage to the supervisor.
- Attend required trainings and maintain reliable and consistent attendance and punctuality.
- Respond to after-hour emergencies and inclement weather calls, as required.
- High school diploma or GED equivalent.
- Ability to follow instructions and exercise independent judgment and initiative in completing work assignments.
- Ability to communicate clearly and concisely both in oral and written form.
- Ability to use all assigned equipment in a safe manner and attend required employee trainings.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with school system staff, contractors, parents, and students.
- Experience performing custodial work in a commercial/school setting.
The Custodian will be required to work in a school environment and come into direct contact with school system staff, contractors, students, parents, and community members. Some work will be outdoor work, potentially in inclement weather.
The Custodian must be physically able to operate vacuum cleaners, carpet extracting machine, buffers, brooms, mops, small hand tools, etc. and be able to lift or exert up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 25 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects.
