Job Description

West Yost is seeking a highly skilled Water Systems Engineer to join our team of experts in the field of water resources engineering. As a key member of our Water Business Sector, you will contribute to the development of innovative solutions for our clients.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Hydraulic Modeling: Perform water distribution system hydraulic evaluations using commercial software programs, such as InfoWater.
  • Data Analysis: Analyze water use, population, water quality, and facilities condition data to inform our clients' decision-making processes.
  • Water Supply Evaluation: Evaluate water supply availability and develop strategies to ensure reliable and sustainable water resources.
  • Technical Reporting: Prepare technical reports and master plans that meet the needs of our clients and stakeholders.
  • Team Leadership: Serve as a task manager to support senior-level engineers and train other staff engineers.
  • Client Interaction: Interact directly with clients and provide excellent client service, ensuring their needs are met and exceeded.
  • Marketing and Proposal Development: Assist with marketing activities and proposal development as needed.
  • Record Keeping: Maintain accurate records of time spent on each task.
Requirements:
  • Education: Bachelor's degree in Civil/Environmental Engineering.
  • Experience: 4-8 years of experience in water system planning and hydraulic modeling.
  • Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication skills, experience with CAD, GIS, and hydraulic modeling software, and PE licensure in the State of California.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Master's Degree: Master's degree in Civil/Environmental Engineering.
  • Leadership Experience: Proven ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.
  • Technical Skills: Ability to process accurate engineering calculations unaided and prepare reports.
  • Communication Skills: Proven ability to summarize technical information using appropriate grammar, punctuation, and spelling for concise reader-friendliness and clarity.
  • Professional Development: Maintaining professional competency may require attending education classes and seminars, reading professional publications, and attending professional society meetings.
  • Travel Requirements: This position may require travel to other offices and/or client offices, and the ability to meet West Yost's rules and be eligible to drive for business.
