If you seek a meaningful career where you can make a difference, this opportunity is ideal for you.
The Rehabilitation Therapy Technician (RTT) engages in routine habilitative and rehabilitative therapy tasks.

Key responsibilities include supporting the habilitation/rehabilitation supervisor in assisting individuals within a designated therapeutic area (e.g., supported employment coaching and/or vocational rehabilitation).

Duties involve aiding in service delivery as directed by executing treatment plans for the assigned therapeutic specialty. Responsibilities may include accompanying individuals to activities and appointments. Housekeeping tasks in therapeutic activity spaces are also part of the role.

A valid driver's license and the ability to operate a state vehicle may be necessary, depending on facility requirements.

This position operates under moderate supervision from the designated supervisor, allowing limited scope for initiative and independent judgment. Driving a state-owned vehicle is a requirement of this role.

Core Responsibilities:

Regular attendance is essential, and the role may require adherence to a specific shift schedule or, at times, a rotating schedule, extended shifts, and/or overtime in accordance with agency leave policies while performing additional assigned duties.

Prepare materials for assessments utilizing data from previous evaluations and assist in conducting assessments as directed.
Accompany individuals to and from activities and appointments, as necessary.
Prepare materials for therapeutic sessions and ensure an adequate supply of resources.
Perform housekeeping duties in therapeutic activity areas as instructed.

Provide assistance to individuals for a designated therapeutic specialty (e.g., supported employment coaching and/or vocational rehabilitation) through hands-on methods.

Conduct direct contact observations and complete observation documentation.
Collect data related to treatment plans as instructed.

Offer feedback to the interdisciplinary team regarding individual progress, collaborate with Direct Support Professionals (DSP) to maintain connections, and assist in developing treatment plans for the assigned discipline.

Establish treatment goals that are practical for the team to implement while prioritizing the individual's best interests.

Maintain current competencies in relation to assigned responsibilities.

Additional duties may include actively participating in or supporting the agency's obligations for disaster response and/or recovery or Continuity of Operations Plan (COOP) activation.

Such participation may necessitate an alternate shift pattern assignment and/or location.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Basic knowledge, or willingness to learn, of relevant therapeutic techniques.
  • Effective communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Experience with, or willingness to learn about, the equipment, tools, and materials used in therapeutic activities.
  • Ability to assist in the development of treatment and support plans.
  • Capability to gather data for assigned therapeutic specialties (e.g., music therapy, therapeutic recreation, dance/movement therapy, occupational therapy, physical therapy, psychology, or vocational rehabilitation).
  • Proficiency in using personal computers and relevant software.
  • General understanding of, or willingness to learn about, ICF-IID regulations and State Supported Living Center policies and procedures.
  • Ability to meet the same physical requirements as those for direct contact staff positions.
