Job Summary

The Duval County Public School is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Certified Athletic Trainer to join our team. As an Athletic Trainer, you will be responsible for providing top-notch medical care to our student-athletes, ensuring their safety and well-being during sports activities.

Key Responsibilities
  • Establish and maintain a comprehensive athletic training program for high school athletics, ensuring a clean, organized, and efficient athletic training facility.
  • Provide first aid, assessment, treatment, rehabilitation, and reconditioning for student-athletes, as well as visiting athletes competing at the school.
  • Coordinate annual required athletic physicals and supervise medical clearance of injured athletes prior to and during sport seasons.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date filing systems for athletic healthcare documents.
  • Develop and implement sport-specific conditioning programs and methods, assist in the selection and fitting of protective medical equipment, and equip teams with appropriate medical equipment.
  • Oversee the ordering of supplies and equipment related to the athletic training facility, manage inventory, and provide an annual budget for supplies and equipment.
  • Create a safe playing environment by monitoring and controlling environmental risks, performing routine inspections on school AEDs, and providing staff in-service on AED locations.
  • Establish educational opportunities, clubs, and learning environments for students interested in exploring careers in health sciences and share professional literature relative to injury prevention with coaching staff.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited athletic training education program or health-related field; Master's preferred.
  • Two years of athletic training experience, with experience in middle and high school sports programs preferred.
  • Current Certified Athletic Trainer certification and state licensure in accordance with the Florida Board of Athletic Training.
  • Maintain continuing education requirements as set forth by the Board of Certification and certification in CPR/Emergency Cardiac Care for the Professional Responder.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Knowledge of techniques used to diagnose and treat sports-related injuries.
  • Knowledge of sports injury preventative measures.
  • Strong skills in assessing and treating sports-related injuries, mechanical stimulation, heat, cold, light, air, water, electricity, sound, massage, and therapeutic exercises.
  • Strong oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Strong word processing, spreadsheet, database, and presentation software skills.
  • Ability to assess, manage, treat, rehabilitate, and recondition student-athletes within the professional preparation and education of a Certified Athletic Trainer.
  • Ability to evaluate athlete readiness to play and sports equipment.
  • Ability to develop and manage budgets and handle high amounts of stress associated with injuries.
