Pharmacy Technician

We are seeking a highly skilled Pharmacy Technician to join our team at Medstar. As a Pharmacy Technician, you will play a critical role in ensuring the safe and efficient dispensing of medications to our patients.
Key Responsibilities- Prepare medications for dispensing, including selecting, labeling, and packaging.
- Enter medication orders into the computer system, evaluating patient data, checking for drug allergies and duplications, and calculating dosage conversions.
- Pick up medication orders from patient care areas and deliver filled orders to assigned nursing units and departments.
- Assist in checking or investigating missing dose requests and prepare parenteral admixture solutions.
- Monitor stock inventory levels and expiration dates, and replenish supplies of all stock drugs.
- Process drug charges and credits, and perform quality improvement activities such as code cart checks and outdated medication checks.
- Respond to phone calls regarding medication orders and exemplify Guest and Staff Relations standards in all activities.
- High School Diploma or GED required; some college preferred.
- 3-4 years of experience in hospital pharmacy, with 2-4 years of IV admixture experience preferred.
- Licensed Pharmacy Tech Registry with the D.C. Board of Pharmacy required.
- Good written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to utilize computer equipment and prepackaging machines.
