Sustainable Ohio Public Energy Council (SOPEC) seeks a seasoned professional to serve as its Regional Director for Southwest Ohio. As a key member of the organization's leadership team, you will play a critical role in driving the development and growth of SOPEC member communities and political subdivisions in the region.

Key Responsibilities
  • Oversee the successful execution of SOPEC's mission in Southwest Ohio, ensuring effective management of the Regional Office and its staff;
  • Identify strategic opportunities to advance sustainable and resilient operations practices in the region, focusing on low-income communities, disadvantaged census tracts, and organizations promoting climate and conservation regenerative synergies;
  • Promote and enhance participation in SOPEC programs among member communities and political subdivisions, including initiatives like the REDA solar program and Energy Aggregation Programs;
  • Foster strong relationships and partnerships with community members, local officials, and organizations, aligning with SOPEC's guiding mission and vision;
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to facilitate solar PV assessments, funding identification, public pricing, energy efficiency, and capacity-building opportunities;
  • Support the development of large-scale and small-scale renewable energy projects, contributing to the direct supply of Ohio's electricity grid;
  • Contribute to the SOPEC grants team, assisting with grants applications and program implementations;
  • Attend local meetings and engage with SOPEC Board of Directors and General Assembly members from communities and political subdivisions, facilitating collaboration on community grant programs;
  • Develop and implement strategies to advance SOPEC's mission in Southwest Ohio, leveraging expertise and resources to drive positive change.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant field, such as environmental studies, business, or public administration, with relevant experience considered;
  • Juris Doctor degree or Master's degree in renewable energy or a related field is highly desirable;
  • A minimum of 5 years of experience in sustainability and energy-related fields is preferred;
  • Ability to reside in or relocate to Southwest Ohio is mandatory;
  • A valid driver's license and reliable transportation are required for regional travel;
  • Strong knowledge of solar, renewable technologies, energy efficiency, and electric vehicles is desired.
Salary and Benefits

The estimated annual salary for this position is $108,000. Additional benefits include comprehensive health insurance, retirement plan, and paid time off.
