We are seeking a highly qualified Agriculture Teacher to join our team at Alleghany High School. The successful candidate will be responsible for teaching Agriculture Education courses and overseeing the school's FFA program.
Key Responsibilities- Instructional Program: Develop and implement a comprehensive instructional program in Agriculture Education, including lesson plans, instructional materials, and assessments.
- FFA/Leadership Development: Serve as advisor for the local FFA chapter, plan and conduct leadership, citizenship, and cooperative activities for students at the district, area, state, and national levels.
- Supervised Agricultural Experience (SAE) Programs: Assist students in selecting SAE programs, maintain records, locate training stations, coordinate instructional programs with work-based and experiential learning locations, supervise SAE programs, and maintain the school laboratory.
- Adult Community Involvement: Plan and conduct an organized program of instruction and/or community involvement with adults, including alumni and young farmers.
- Records and Reports: Prepare and submit FFA rosters, entries, registrations, and other required reports.
- Public and Professional Relations: Assume a responsible role in public and professional relations by actively participating in civic, professional, agricultural, and other community organizations.
- Professional Improvement: Continue professional growth by holding membership in professional organizations, attending in-service meetings, workshops, and conferences.
- Evaluation of Program: Evaluate the Agriculture Education program on an annual basis, develop program goals and objectives, and make changes and adjustments as needed.
- Maintain Facilities and Equipment: Maintain facilities and equipment, including the classroom, shop, laboratory, and grounds.
- Cooperative Activities: Cooperate fully with local administrators and work closely with local and county agricultural organizations/agencies.
- Off-Campus Supervision of Students: Supervise students at all off-campus activities associated with the agricultural education program and the FFA.
- Professional Ethics: Maintain professional and personal ethics in dealing with students, parents, community leaders, and others.
- Summer Programs: Develop and implement a summer program that includes FFA activities, teacher in-service, program development, and educational activities.
- Hold or be able to hold certification in Agricultural Education (license code 700) or Welding Education (license number and designated as highly qualified).
- Have a strong understanding of Agriculture Education and the ability to develop and implement a comprehensive instructional program.
- Be able to work effectively with students, parents, and community leaders.
- Have excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Be able to maintain professional and personal ethics in dealing with students, parents, community leaders, and others.
