Job Description

Job Summary:

SAIC is seeking a highly skilled Data Center Network Engineer to support the US Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) Revolutionary IT Services (RITS) program. The successful candidate will be responsible for configuring and installing new or replacement data center hardware, configuring and supporting the wireless network, and maintaining network documentation.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Project Management: Assist supervisors in managing projects, circuit activations, installs, refreshes, outages, and meeting DISA security requirements.
  • Infrastructure Management: Operate, optimize, and maintain the infrastructure within the data center environment.
  • Troubleshooting: Troubleshoot and resolve system-related issues, such as connectivity problems, routing errors, and performance degradation.
  • Equipment Maintenance: Responsible for rack/stack, cabling, maintenance, and troubleshooting of all IT equipment, tools, and consumables in the data center.
  • Best Practices: Adhere and enforce data center best practices, such as cable management, airflow management, labeling end-to-end communication and power cables in accordance with data center standards.
  • Software Updates: Install updates to network equipment and IOS (IOS-XE, NXOS) software.
  • Security Compliance: Ensure network hardware has a secure baseline configuration and meets DISA Security Technical Implementation guide (STIG) requirements.
  • Topology Management: Update and maintain network logical and physical topology to include Wi-Fi heat maps.
  • Hardware Configuration: Configure and install new or replacement network hardware, including VLAN configuration and routing.
  • System Maintenance: Provide system maintenance, including monitoring logs, backing up configurations.
  • Server Management: Manage and maintain servers (physical/VM), databases, appliances, services, and applications hosted at the data center that support network management.

Requirements:

  • Education and Experience: Associates degree and six (6)+ years' of related experience; additional four (4) years of experience accepted in lieu of degree.
  • Infrastructure Experience: Experience in a Data Center role involving infrastructure.
  • Networking Knowledge: In-depth knowledge of networking protocols and technologies, such as TCP/IP, VLAN, BGP, OSPF, MPLS, and DNS.
  • Hardware Experience: Hands-on experience with network hardware, including switches, routers, load balancers, and firewalls.
  • Monitoring and Troubleshooting Tools: Proficient in network monitoring and troubleshooting tools, such as Wireshark, SNMP, and packet analysis.
  • Virtualization Experience: Familiarity with virtualization technologies, such as VMware or Hyper-V, and experience with SDN/NFV concepts is a plus.
  • CLI Experience: Knowledge and familiarity with the Command Line Interface (CLI) used by Cisco devices.
  • Ticketing System: Knowledge and use of ServiceNow or similar ticketing system.
  • On-Call Support: Provide on-call support and participate in an on-call rotation schedule.
  • Physical Demands: Capable of lifting to 50 lbs. and are agile in manual dexterity (climb, stoop, etc.) to rack and stack equipment.

Clearance Requirements:

  • Secret Clearance: Must be able to obtain a full Secret Clearance; Interim Secret required prior to start.
  • US Citizenship: Must be a current US Citizen.
