About the Role

We are seeking a skilled Fluid Systems Design Engineer II to join our team at Blue Origin. As a key member of our spacecraft systems design team, you will be responsible for the design, analysis, development, and qualification of the fluid system for the New Glenn rocket.

Your expertise in aerospace fluid systems design, mechanical engineering, and 3D CAD programs will be essential in contributing to the success of our mission. You will work closely with our team of engineers to develop and implement innovative solutions for the fluid system, ensuring the safety and efficiency of our spacecraft.

As a Fluid Systems Design Engineer II, you will have the opportunity to work on a wide range of projects, from conceptual design to testing and validation. You will be responsible for creating detailed mechanical designs, requirements, layouts, analysis, component selection, modeling, drafting, manufacturing, and test definition.

Responsibilities
  • Design and develop fluid systems for the New Glenn rocket
  • Conduct analysis and testing to ensure system safety and efficiency
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to develop and implement innovative solutions
  • Develop and maintain detailed mechanical designs and requirements
  • Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and industry standards
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering, aerospace engineering, or equivalent
  • 2+ years of experience in aerospace fluid systems design
  • Experience with 3D CAD programs (Creo preferred)
  • Experience with Finite Element Analysis (FEA) tools (ANSYS preferred)
  • Proficiency in crafting engineering drawings with GD&T (ASME Y14.5)
  • Solid understanding of fluid components such as valves, tubing, and pressurized hardware
  • Ability to earn trust, maintain positive and professional relationships, and contribute to a culture of inclusion
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience designing systems with Hydrogen, Oxygen, and Methane in liquid and/or gaseous states
  • Experience designing systems with Hydrogen, Oxygen, and Methane in liquid and/or gaseous states
  • Experience in system layout or component design for launch vehicle or ground cryogenic and pressure systems
  • Experience with thermo-fluid solver applications Thermal Desktop (Sinda Fluint), AFT (Fathom/Arrow), Excel based models, REFPROP
  • Proven understanding of materials properties and treatments; preference for aerospace materials
  • Hands-on experience building and testing mechanical assemblies or pressurized components/systems
  • Experience in all phases of integrating routed fluid systems in ground base or flight vehicle applications
  • Experience in engineering analysis/support for disposition of Non-Conformance (NC) related to fluid components, machined parts, weldments, and electro-mechanical assemblies
