Job Summary:

As a Registered Nurse in our Medical/Surgical Intensive Care Unit, you will play a critical role in providing high-quality patient care to individuals with complex medical conditions. Under the supervision of our experienced healthcare team, you will utilize your clinical judgment skills to diagnose and treat human responses to actual or potential health problems.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Assessment: Conduct thorough multi-system assessments, including biophysical, psychosocial, environmental, self-care, education needs, and discharge planning needs. Identify deviations from normal on routine lab diagnostic tests and reassess patients throughout their hospitalization.
  • Planning: Develop individualized nursing plans of care that are sensitive to the developmental needs of patients. Coordinate patient care activities and discharge planning with other hospital and clinic departments and community agencies. Develop patient teaching plans and document them on the care plan or teaching plan.
  • Implementation: Initiate appropriate measures based on protocol for the management of medical and/or surgical patients. Bases nursing care on protocol in place for management of each patient. Correctly carry out the physician's plan of care, accurately document in the electronic medical record, and utilize a multidisciplinary approach when appropriate.
  • Evaluation: Evaluate assessment methods, plan of care, and patient response to treatment. Participate in unit quality assurance activities.
Requirements:
  • Experience: Minimum nine (9) months of RN experience. One (1) year recent ICU nursing experience or successful completion of the Kaiser ICU cross-training program.
  • Education: Graduate of an accredited nursing program.
  • License, Certification, Registration: Registered Nurse License (in the state where care is provided), Advanced Cardiac Life Support, Basic Life Support, and NIH Stroke Scale Certificate within 3 months of hire.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Previous Health Care Experience: Previous experience in a healthcare setting.
  • Bachelor's Degree in Nursing or Related Field: Bachelor's degree in nursing or a related field.
  • Recent ICU Nursing Experience: Two (2) years of recent ICU nursing experience preferred.
  • CCRN: Critical Care Registered Nurse (CCRN) certification preferred.
  • Dialysis, SLED, or Equivalent: Experience in dialysis, SLED, or equivalent preferred.
