Key Responsibilities of the Groundhand:

  • Act as the Groundhand for Aerial Crews engaged in aerial fiber and coaxial construction. Responsibilities include supplying materials to the crew, operating bucket trucks as directed, assisting with cable lasher operations, and climbing utility poles when required. You will also receive 'Flagger Certification' to manage traffic safely at job sites.
  • Ensure that door tagging and resident notifications regarding construction activities are completed before the start of each workday.
  • Conduct daily inspections and maintenance of fleet vehicles and equipment, documenting all findings. If licensed, you may be required to drive company vehicles to and from job sites.

Ideal Candidate Profile:

  • Must be at least 18 years of age
  • Authorized to work in the United States
  • High school diploma or equivalent is required
  • Valid standard Driver's License with a minimum of 2 years of driving experience or a Class A Commercial Driver's License
  • 0-1 years of experience in unskilled labor; experience in telecommunications is advantageous
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 50 lbs regularly and up to 75 lbs as needed, with or without assistance
  • Certification as a pole climber is a plus, or the ability to demonstrate proficiency in pole climbing
  • Familiarity with the installation of aerial and underground cables and adherence to applicable codes and regulations is preferred
