CAT Scan Technician

We are seeking a highly skilled CAT Scan Technician to join our team at NYU Grossman School of Medicine. As a CAT Scan Technician, you will be responsible for performing medically prescribed radiographic and CT procedures to produce high-quality images for diagnostic purposes.
Key Responsibilities- Utilize computerized tomography (CT) scanners to produce cross-sectional images of patients' internal organs and tissues.
- Accurately interpret physicians' scanning instructions, administer contrast materials, prepare and operate the CT scan equipment, and position patients to capture the appropriate images.
- Demonstrate knowledge of the hospital and radiology information systems as they relate to radiology.
- Select appropriate patient information from the HIS/RIS system in accordance with HIPAA regulations.
- Access patient information, schedule exams, appointment times, type of exam, patient reports, etc.
- Follow departmental HIS/RIS system procedures and protocol to ensure orders are verified and processed correctly.
- Effectively assess patients' information and status, and follow appropriate procedures accordingly.
- Use standard procedures to identify the correct patient.
- Review patients' requisitions and understand the type of exam required by each requisition and confer with medical staff regarding clarification when necessary.
- Follow accepted radiologic procedures and use medical information to determine the type of protocol required for radiographic examination.
- Consult policy and procedure manuals and/or other reference materials as necessary to ensure actions conform to established protocols.
- Follow special instructions indicated on radiographic requisitions.
- Recognize the need for and follow isolation precautions.
- Independently implement patient procedures in accordance with departmental protocols and standards.
- Explain the procedure and equipment to patients clearly.
- Solve problems that arise during patient examinations using both technical knowledge and innovation.
- Alter examinations to maximize information in response to patients' conditions.
- Confer with other technologists concerning previous approaches utilized.
- Demonstrate skill in equipment setup, utilization, and proper maintenance procedures.
- Perform visual and manual quality control checks of radiographic equipment.
- Use imaging and peripheral equipment in a safe and productive manner in accordance with prescribed hospital, departmental, and manufacturers' procedures.
- Observe and report any malfunctioning of equipment and notify appropriate persons in case of missing or damaged equipment.
- Certificate from an accredited School of Radiologic Technology.
- New York State license or temporary permit to practice Diagnostic Radiology.
- Certified by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT).
