Job Summary:
Leverage your expertise in habitability and quality of life to support the CVN Readiness Operations Center as a Habitability Specialist. This role requires a strong understanding of aircraft carrier operations, maintenance, and administrative requirements.
Key Responsibilities:
- Implement and manage various habitability programs, identifying sources of assistance and evaluating program effectiveness.
- Evaluate the analysis of aircraft carrier habitability program effectiveness and its impact on ship operational readiness.
- Provide expert advice on assessment and readiness policies, ensuring compliance with higher authority guidelines.
- Assist in program management, technical expertise, and continuity of habitability and quality of life systems aboard COMNAVAIRLANT ships.
- Manage the Shipboard Habitability Program for assigned COMNAVAIRLANT ships, coordinating efforts of various staff codes and outside activities that impact shipboard quality of life.
- Inspect and monitor quality of life and/or habitability policy for COMNAVAIRLANT ships, maintaining familiarity with current shipboard living conditions and issues through ship and site visits.
- Initiate and coordinate actions to achieve and/or maintain habitability standards established by OPNAVINST series for COMNAVAIRLANT ships.
- Assist in the initiation of habitability/quality of life alterations, upgrades, and repairs as required, reviewing new equipment, systems, alterations, and modifications for impact on habitability/quality of life.
- Coordinate the evaluation and inspection of current and new habitability systems, products, and materials.
- Support the CVN Readiness Assessment Program Manager, CVN ROC Manager, and CVN ROC Officer in planning, organizing, and performing all required assessments of United States aircraft carriers to include habitability and livability.
- Work with the CVN ROC Assessment Program Manager and other codes within AIRLANT to optimize the assessment of readiness for the United States aircraft carrier fleet, assisting in inspection, development of plans, and implementing strategies.
- Provide ongoing inspections and review of aircraft carrier assessment reporting practices and methodology to identify areas for improvement.
- Maintain visibility and long-term continuity of aircraft carrier readiness assessment improvement actions and coordinate these efforts between the CNAL and CNAP.
- Assist with development of ROC metrics as advised.
Requirements:
- Current, active Secret security clearance.
- Minimum of 5 years' experience in the fluent use of Microsoft Products.
- Minimum of ten (10) years' experience working on and with all facets of aircraft carrier operations, maintenance, maning, training, and administrative requirements.
- Minimum of (10) years of knowledge of Naval Aircraft Carrier references and standards per Naval Instruction requirements.
- Possess a significant ability to classify aircraft carrier readiness as it pertains to overall program objectives based on data obtained through interaction with ship senior leadership.
- Minimum of (10) years' experience in implementing various habitability programs and identifying the sources of assistance available for these programs.
- Process senior level oral and written communication skills to effectively communicate with higher command levels (GS-15, O-6, and occasionally Flag/SES level) orally and in writing.
- Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without the need for employer sponsorship, now or at any time in the future.
Physical Requirements:
- Availability to get underway on CVNs.
- Ability to climb vertical ladders and take stairs.
- Ability to carry up to 50 pounds of gear, potentially for longer distances (up to 1⁄2 mile) when embarking on a ship.
- Remaining in a stationary position, often standing, or sitting for prolonged periods.
- Moving about to accomplish tasks or moving from one worksite to another.
- Communicating with others to exchange information.
Travel Requirements:
- Occasional travel / less than 10%.
- To travel by domestic flight or access to secure federal facilities/military bases, candidate must be able to obtain (by start of position) and maintain appropriate identification credentials, such as REAL ID.
