Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct thorough dental exams and assessments, recording findings and making independent judgments in managing acute and long-term dental needs.
  • Adhere to all HIPAA rules and statutes, maintaining business and patient confidentiality.
  • Interpret and integrate data to determine appropriate diagnostic and therapeutic procedures.
  • Maintain and review patient records, charts, and other pertinent information.
  • Order laboratory and diagnostic procedures, evaluating tests and examination results.
  • Synthesize data to determine preliminary diagnosis and therapeutic plan, utilizing principles of prevention and/or treatment.
  • Administer medications and injections, as per licensing guidelines.
  • Interview and advise patients regarding dental maintenance and oral health.
  • Refer patients as necessary, instructing them and their families regarding medications and treatment instructions.
  • Manage dental emergencies, providing monitoring and continuity of care between clinic visits.
  • Remain current in advanced practice changes within the area, translating findings into clinical practice.
  • Maintain CPR certification and re-licensure requirements.
  • Comply with all agency policies and procedures concerning corporate compliance, including privacy of protected health information.
  • Recommend community resources to meet patient and family needs.
  • Provide telephone consultation, follow-up phone calls, and triage patient telephone calls.

Requirements:

  • Doctorate of Dental Surgery (DDS) or Doctorate of Medicine in Dentistry (DMD) from an accredited Dental School.
  • Experience in Rural Dentistry or in a Community Health center setting preferred.
  • Possession of an Indiana State License to Practice Dentistry, CSR, and DEA certificate.
