Job Summary

The PR and Community Engagement Specialist is a vital role at The Community Blood Center, responsible for executing community outreach efforts to promote awareness of blood donation needs and services. This position collaborates with the marketing team to expand the donor base and works with other departments to foster relationships within the community.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Media and Public Relations:
  • Growing and maintaining relationships with media outlets, professional contacts, and community groups throughout Wisconsin and the Midwest.
  • Maintaining a strong public presence through PR strategies that increase visibility and brand awareness in social and digital media.
  • Managing media inquiries and interview requests, coordinating interviewees and locations.
  • Arranging and conducting public appearances, speaking engagements, promotions, or events to increase brand awareness and promote CBC.
  • Evaluating opportunities for community partnerships, sponsorships, and advertising on an ongoing basis.
  • Interface with strategic community partners and vendors to develop/maintain strong working partnerships.
  • Coordinating paperwork, payment, logo, ad delivery, etc.
Content:
  • Identifying, developing, and executing communications strategies for key media contacts and customer references.
  • Developing internal and external staff and media talking points.
  • Creating and maintaining a fact database.
  • Communicating important CBC information and press releases to donors, sponsors, and staff.
  • Coordinating the development of multimedia content for donor stories, internal/external videos, promotional videos, and other organization-wide projects.
  • Utilizing word-of-mouth content to encourage blood donors to share their experiences with others.
  • Conceptualizing, writing, and editing creative content to increase brand awareness.
  • Developing content for multi-platform outlets, including print, television, digital, email, website, and social media platforms.
  • Coordinating special promotions or campaigns.
  • Planning, writing, and distributing newsletters following CBC Brand Identity guidelines.
  • Writing and proofreading drafts of collateral and other marketing communications while maintaining the CBC brand.
Special Events:
  • Supporting community awareness initiatives by executing public relations strategies aimed at promoting the blood center at community relations activities and special events.
  • Assisting in coordinating and managing special event planning, setup, day-of execution, take down, and other duties as needed.
  • Working with internal stakeholders on event drives intended to increase first-time donors and community awareness.
Social Media:
  • Developing, executing, and managing social media channels, video, content calendars, and blog.
  • Designing, producing, and publishing high-quality, creative content across social media platforms that promote the CBC message and brand.
  • Coordinating and integrating social media content development and campaigns with other communications projects and event calendar.
  • Monitoring social media sites and responding to all inquiries and comments in a timely and professional manner.
  • Assisting in creating, developing, proofreading, and managing content for the organization's web presence.
  • Collaborating with the Marketing Operations Associate to increase site traffic and conversion through SEO/SEM initiatives, calls to action, dedicated landing pages, and content marketing.
Digital Marketing:
  • Creating and executing digital marketing campaigns aligned with CBC goals and marketing strategies while maintaining consistency of brand image, voice, and message.
  • Creating digital content for use on the website, blog, and social media.
  • Staying up-to-date on new media industry trends and emerging digital channels.
