Electrical Design Engineer Job Description

At Gannett Fleming, we are seeking an experienced Electrical Design Engineer to join our team in Boston, MA. As an Electrical Design Engineer, you will be responsible for designing electrical systems for various public and private sector facilities projects. Your day-to-day responsibilities will include preparing electrical design criteria documents, electrical design directive drawings, electrical system calculations, and electrical system technical analyses. You will also be responsible for performing site surveys of existing system conditions, designing electrical systems, and leading and participating in meetings with clients and project teams.

Responsibilities:
Performing site surveys of existing system conditions for interface of new designs with existing electrical and control systems.
Designing electrical systems including low/medium voltage power distribution, standby/emergency generation, interior/exterior lighting for buildings, and low voltage systems such as access control, security, and fire alarm systems.
Construction assistance including electrical shop drawing review, contractor relations, and site surveys.
Leading and participating in meetings with clients, state agencies, city agencies, utility service representatives, and project teams.
Delivering projects on time and within client budgets.
Delivering projects in compliance with client and company quality control procedures and engineering guidelines.
Participating on project teams in an active production role.
Preparing project specifications and electrical construction cost estimates.
Daily interaction and collaboration on cross-functional teams across multiple disciplines.
Coordinating and verifying as-built drawings.
Performing quality work that promotes client retention.

Requirements:
Minimum Bachelor's in Electrical Engineering.
5+ years of progressive experience in the engineering and design of electrical systems.
Electrical power design experience is required.
Licensed Professional Engineer (PE) are preferred.
Firm understanding of the National Electrical Code, other NFPA codes/standards, and energy codes.
Experienced with facility surveys, reports, feasibility studies, design, specifications, cost estimating, and construction activity support.
Proficient on Autocad, Revit, and MicroStation.
Experience with Power Studies, such as Short Circuit Study, Coordination Study, and Arc Flash Analysis is preferred.
Proficiency using SKM Power Tools Software or ETAP is preferred.
Security and communication design experience.
Project management and leadership skills, capable of driving the successful completion of projects is a plus.
