We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Youth Detention Officer to join our team at the Multi-County Juvenile Detention Center in Fairfield County, OH. As a key member of our facility, you will play a critical role in maintaining a safe and secure environment for residents.
Key Responsibilities- Resident Supervision: Conduct regular room checks, observe residents in isolation, and supervise residents during activities such as showering and housekeeping.
- Security and Safety: Ensure the safety and security of residents, enforce facility policies and procedures, and operate the control room to maintain security.
- Intake and Orientation: Assist with intake procedures, including completing required forms, conducting searches, and orienting residents to the facility.
- Documentation and Reporting: Prepare observation reports, maintain logs, and identify problems documented from other shifts.
- Transportation and Logistics: Patrol housing areas, move residents, and take toxicology specimens as requested.
- Education: High School Diploma or GED required.
- Experience: Previous experience in a detention or correctional facility preferred.
- Skills: Ability to work weekends, pass a background check, and lift objects weighing up to 25 pounds.
This position requires working a 12-hour shift, including day, night, and holiday shifts. You may be required to drive in adverse weather conditions and may be exposed to violent youths or youths under the influence of alcohol and/or drugs.
