Optometric Assistant

Key Responsibilities:
- Establish a strong rapport with patients and serve as the primary liaison between doctor and patient.
- Collect preliminary clinical data, including autorefraction, visual acuity, eye pressure, pupil testing, ocular motility testing, retinal imaging, and lensometry.
- Support in-person and video-assisted eye exam appointments as available.
- Deliver insertion and removal training to new contact lens wearers and train additional team members on how to deliver this training.
- Ensure a seamless appointment experience for patients by supporting them and the store team through each step of the booking process, including appointment confirmation, annual exam outreach, and contact lens follow-up.
- Efficiently manage the flow of patients through the eye exam process.
- Provide support to the doctor in maintaining accurate records of collected data.
- Help prepare reports for other medical professionals as needed.
- Ensure adherence to governmental regulations and privacy policies, as well as company procedures.
- Prepare and maintain an organized exam room by replenishing supplies, keeping contact lens trials up-to-date, ensuring the highest standards of cleanliness for equipment, and performing ongoing maintenance and calibration as needed.
- Support the retail sales team as directed by the Store Leader.
Requirements:
- Be a professional, articulate, and compassionate individual with a strong approach to patient care.
- Be a team player who is effective and efficient in collaborating and communicating with doctors, the store team, and patients.
- Have excellent multitasking, organization, and time management skills to prioritize appointments and maintain efficient patient flow.
- Be able to think outside the box when needed.
- Be precise and comfortable with technology, and able to quickly learn and effectively use new medical applications.
- Be excited to work side by side (or virtually) with a doctor in a high-volume retail setting.
Preferred Qualifications:
- 1+ years of experience in a medical environment supporting doctors.
- Exceptional knowledge of eyewear and the ability to accurately describe the features and benefits of different offerings.
- Working knowledge of G Suite.
- Previous work experience with optometry, electronic health records, or medical care.
- Familiarity with healthcare technology systems and equipment (EMR systems, retinal cameras, exam room equipment).
- Completion of an Optometric Technician training program or CPOT certification (Certified Paraoptometric Technician).
Warby Parker, in good faith, believes that the posted hourly rate is accurate for this role at the time of posting. This rate may be modified in the future. In addition to the hourly rate, this role is also eligible to receive a cash bonus as part of the total compensation package. Details and eligibility will be discussed during the application process.
Pay Range: $19.25—$19.25 USD
