Controller Job Description

VisionsHR is seeking an experienced Controller to oversee all aspects of financial management, including corporate accounting, regulatory and financial reporting, budget and forecast preparation, as well as the development of internal control policies and procedures.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Financial Statement Preparation: Oversee the preparation and accuracy of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements.
  • Accounting Operations Management: Manage and coordinate all accounting operations including Billing, Accounts Receivable, Accounts Payable, General Ledger, and Cost Accounting.
  • Budgeting and Forecasting: Lead the budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis processes.
  • Compliance and Risk Management: Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal government reporting requirements and tax filings. Develop and enforce internal controls to maximize protection of company assets, policies, procedures, and workflows.
  • Regulatory Reporting: Coordinate the preparation of regulatory reporting and act as the primary point of contact for external auditors.
  • Financial Analysis: Monitor and analyze accounting data and produce financial reports or statements.
  • Cash Flow Management: Ensure timely and accurate management of cash flow, banking, and investments.
  • Financial Strategy Development: Assist in the development of company financial strategies by providing financial insights and recommendations.
  • Accounting System Evaluation: Evaluate accounting and financial systems and software, and implement improvements where necessary.
Qualifications:
  • Education: Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field; CPA or CMA preferred.
  • Experience: Proven experience as a Controller or in a senior-level accounting/finance role (typically 7-10 years).
  • Accounting Knowledge: In-depth knowledge of accounting principles (GAAP) and financial reporting.
  • Technical Skills: Strong proficiency in accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, NetSuite, SAP) and MS Excel.
  • Leadership and Communication Skills: Exceptional attention to detail, with strong organizational and leadership skills. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to present financial data to executive leadership.
  • Compliance and Risk Management: Experience in managing audits, risk management, and corporate compliance programs.
  • Adaptability: Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic work environment.
